We've covered a lot of ground on this blog. FedRAMP, CMMC compliance, contract vehicles, product eligibility rules, etc. These are the kind of topics that make most people's eyes glaze over but matter enormously if you're operating in this space.
Today I want to step back from all of that for a minute.
Because when I look at everything we've built and every implementation I've been a part of, it all comes back to one thing: efficiency.
That sounds simple. Maybe even obvious. But I think it gets lost in the noise of compliance frameworks and certification requirements, so I want to say it plainly.
Manual quoting is one of the most expensive inefficiencies in the VAR business and most teams don't even see it. Not because they're not smart, but because it's baked into their workflow. It's just how things get done.
A quote takes 45 minutes. Multiply that across your team, across every RFQ, across a full year. The labor cost alone runs well into six figures for most mid-size teams. That's before you account for the errors that come with manual data entry like incorrect pricing, missed line items, formatting inconsistencies that erode customer confidence.
What I've seen through implementations is that when you bring that 45-minute process down to 10 minutes, something shifts. It's not just about the time saved. It's that your team is less fatigued, less error-prone, and more focused on the work that actually requires their judgment. Speed and accuracy improve together and that compounds across everything from more RFQs answered, to cleaner proposals, to faster turnaround.
That's efficiency in the real sense of the word. A measurable change in how your business operates day to day.
I can't overstate how much this matters. Everything else we talk about (compliance, certifications, integrations, etc) all performs better when the foundation is solid.
Start with the basics. Fix the process. The rest gets easier from there.
